Don't expect a beginning, a middle, and an end. ![]() The book is a character study, not only of Olive but also of the community in which she lives. She appears (even if only briefly) in every chapter. The character Olive Kitteridge is the unifying factor. I didn't know any of that when I started the book but it became apparent to me about maybe five chapters in that this was not a typical narrative. Although Olive Kitteridge claims to be a novel, it is really a collection of short stories (apparently published in different places over the previous years and then grouped together for publication). However, several of my book peeps on Twitter recently encouraged me to pick it up so I did. ![]() Life was busy and messy when the book was originally released and it slipped by me. So, yeah, I'm way late to the party and no good explanation for that. ![]()
